New Winch-Pack Enhances Load Handling Versatility

The ingenious portable Winchpack from Penny Hydraulics is a self-contained electric winch and rope assembly that can be used on any commercial vehicle with a towbar to provide additional load handling capabilities. It simply mounts to a standard towbar within seconds when required to offer temporary winching, for example to assist trailer loading or to raise items from underground. The Winchpack is initially available in four versions, V14 (522kg/1400lb line pull) or V60 (2238kg/6000lb line pull) with 12 or 24 volt power, and rope lengths up to 27m/90ft to provide users with a choice of cost effective alternatives to permanently installed equipment. All variations of Winchpack come complete with wander lead remote control and free spool device as standard. Wireless remote control is also available.

To use the Winchpack a new heavy duty back plate known as the Tr-iBar, also supplied by Penny Hydraulics, is fitted behind the existing tow ball. The Winchpack then simply slots onto the new bracket and is secured in place. Power is drawn direct from the vehicle using leads that attach to the battery using large crocodile clips or via a permanent supply and waterproof quick connector. The entire unit can be disconnected and demounted within 30 seconds then stowed easily and securely inside the vehicle.

Penny Hydraulics is developing additional attachments for the Tr-iBar to provide enhanced carrying capability to any vehicle with a standard towbar. The first of these is a special heavy duty bicycle carrier that can hold up to four full-sized adult bicycles whilst still allowing full access to the vehicle boot.

Penny Hydraulics designs and manufactures lifting and load handling equipment for use in a wide range of applications. Products include the Swing Lift range of medium duty cranes for use on pick-ups, drop-sides and flat-beds and the Step Lift, Load Lift and Tail Lift lifting platform ranges for use on pick-ups, drop-sides and vans. The company also manufactures the Mezz Lift for handling loads between ground floor and mezzanines and specialist equipment for handling wheels, tyres and barrels in vehicles and at customers’ premises. Penny Hydraulics is a privately owned family business based in Clowne, Derbyshire.
