Jack Miles – candidate for the AMRC Apprentice of the year award!
We’ve had a cameraman at Penny Hydraulics today. The spotlight was on apprentice Jack Miles who has been shortlisted for the coveted Apprentice of the Year award from the AMRC (Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre) Training Centre.
Jack discussed the positive effect that his role at Penny Hydraulics has had on his development and the interesting projects that he has been involved in since he started.
The Managing Director, Robin Penny, a keen advocate for engineering apprenticeships, talked about the impact that Jack has had on the company and how his skills have helped the Goods Lift Department improve quality and efficiency with his attention to detail in the preparation of the pump and control units.
The AMRC Training Centre is part of Sheffield University and one of the best engineering training establishments in Europe. Jack is up against other apprentices from companies such as Rolls Royce, Boeing, JCB and Network Rail who all use the centre. The overall winners will be announced at the AMRC annual awards ceremony held on Friday 4th May 2018 at Firth Court, Sheffield. Best of luck Jack – we’re all rooting for you!
